what is covid-19?

Covid-19 also known as coronavirus is a kind of common virus that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. COVID-19 is a disease that can cause what doctors call a respiratory tract infection. It can affect your upper respiratory tract (sinuses, nose, and throat) or lower respiratory tract (windpipe and lungs). It's caused by a coronavirus named SARS-CoV-2. SARS-CoV-2 is one of seven types of coronavirus, including the ones that cause severe diseases like Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and sudden acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The other coronaviruses cause most of the colds that affect us during the year but aren’t a serious threat for otherwise healthy people.

First things first, this is the ad made by nike. From the copy, i can see that nike uses a rather emotional appeal towards their ads. During covid-19 lockdown, all sports events were cancelled and it had affected thousands or maybe millions of athletes around the world. As a big and well onown brand, nike always come up with a brilliant idea to create awareness. It will somehow leaves a positive impacts towards their brand and also helps the government to educate the citizens to stay inside.













       The other brands that also stood out during MCO was McDonald. McDonald often took advantage of everything that currently happened. As an example, they create tons of ads regarding the safety and also cleanliness of their food before it being delivered. They uses a simple copy so that their customer can easily undertstand the message they wanted to deliver.

This ad campaign uses marlboro tag to hightlight the cause of death by smoking. By posting this ad, they managed to instil fear inside the audience life. The ad also tells the audience about 440,000 americans die every year from various diseases related to smoking and about 90% of them started as teen smokers. It is clear that this ad wanted to spread awareness regarding cigarette can kill anyone.

VIDEO AD

UNICEF is a special program of the United Nations devoted to aiding national efforts to improve the health, nutrition, education, and general welfare of children. Based on the link stated above, unicef create a campaign to stop child violence. In the video, they highlights “violence can mark children forever”. They also portrays david beckham in the video to make it more memorable. Child biolence must be stopped because it is a wring thing to do. Love your children.

This poster is actually an origami tiger made from paper. So the metaphor of this poster is actually about saving the tiger and also illegal logging. When illegal loghing can be stopped, tiger extinction can also be stopped

The quote reminds me how simple advertising or the advertisement can be and still have an impact to the audience and can influence the target consumers.

To make a good advertisement campaign, we should make it as simple as it can. The simpler the message on the ads, the easier for the consumer to make conclusions about the ads. Moreover, to make advertisement memorable in consumer’s mind we can include some humor, jingle, tagline or an iconic character that is familiar.

As advertisers, you should make your messages simple and easy to understand by the customers. Chelsea FC's current captain Cesar Azpilicueta is the main image in this magazine cover.

The main cover line is 'Will To Win" that was written in the left side of the cover.

6. Cover Line 

The cover line is "Why Cesar Azpilicueta Is Positive About The Future" that was written below the the main cover line.

The bar code is placed on the right side of the cover below the company that sponsored the club.

Bad Typography

1. Hameed 'Pata' Mee Sotong Signboard


















This is the signboard of the famous squid fried noodle in georgetown, Penang. In my opinion, the signboard is too colourful which consist of more than 3 colours. I think for signboard typography, it will be more suitable if we just use maximum of 3 colours only. 

2. Nasi Kandar Beratur Signboard













This is signboard one of the famous Nasi Kandar restaurant in Penang. Although it uses one type of font and two type of colour for the typography, the arrangement of the typography is messy. It would be much better if they arrange it properly.

3. Pasembur Gurney Drive Signboard


















Pasembur Gurney Drive is the best Pasempur in Penang. Although the food if good, they should improve their signboard because for me the signboard is too colourful and old looking. there too many colours and it would be hard to read from far.
